2. Learning objectives/aims
The aims of the Cambridge IGCSE Travel & Tourism syllabus are to provide candidates with:
• understanding of the nature of travel and tourism, globally, nationally and locally
• understanding of the positive and negative impacts of travel and tourism and how these can be managed
• understanding of the importance of sustainability and resilience in travel and tourism
• awareness of the importance of the customer in the travel and tourism industry
• understanding of the importance of marketing in travel and tourism
• communication skills and awareness of different values and attitudes in relation to travel and tourism
3. How the student's progress will be measured
During Year 10 and Year 11 progress and attainment will be measured through frequent assessments. The assessments will be based on past paper questions to help students improve exam technique and get used to answering exam style questions. In addition, students will have the opportunity to self-assess and peer assess work. Furthermore, after each assessment, students will have the opportunity to reflect on their performance and set targets for improvement.

Enrichment activities
IGCSE Travel and Tourism students visit a 5 star Hotel to gain an understanding of customer service and the wide range of employment opportunities within a hotel.
The Future
IGCSE Travel and Tourism will help you with careers in the travel and tourism industry. Careers could include working in a wide variety of roles in a hotel such as a receptionist, hotel manager, human resources and marketing or within an airline such as cabin crew or working for a tour operator or travel agent.

Through the study of Travel and Tourism students will:
• Appreciate the scale and importance of the travel and tourism industry
• Learn that the travel and tourism industry is dynamic in nature and how the industry responds to change, e.g. external factors such as changing consumer needs and expectations and developments in information technology
• Recognise the positive and negative impacts the industry may have on people, environments and economies.
