Model UN is a fantastic activity for those interested in learning more about debate and how the UN operates. It is not just a MIS club. Hundreds of thousands of students worldwide take part every year at all educational levels. Many of today's leaders in law, government, business and the arts – including at the UN itself – participated in Model UN as student.
Model United Nations is an academic simulation of the United Nations where you play the role of delegates from different countries and attempt to solve real world issues with the policies and perspectives of their assigned country. For example, a student may be assigned the United Kingdom and will have to solve global topics such as climate change from the policies and perspectives of the United Kingdom.
We have a flourishing MUN club and team here in MIS and we are hoping that this coming year will be our most impressive yet. We have in the past year attended a MUN conference in Dukhan, which was a huge success. We are not just limited by locality however, as there are online conferences from around the world available, as well as physical conferences here in Qatar.
