Curriculum >> Key Stage 4 >> Music
Music is at the heart of every International Community and this is true of Mesaieed International School where music continues to play an important role in the development of our students. We will cover the nature and principles of how music learning takes a very important role within the school curriculum. We aim to develop the students inner expertise in a variety of learning situations and to equip them to experience meaningful musical encounters.
“Research on music in education has had significant impact on policy, and on teaching and learning in music classrooms and outside. It has led to curriculum innovation, increased participation and investment, benefiting millions.”
All students receive a one hour music lesson in Key Stage Three and Three hours, if opted for, in Key Stage Four. The curriculum has been designed to broaden student’s experiences of music across the world and indeed across the ages, right up to the modern day.
Each module in KS3 includes, performing, composing and listening tasks, as well as giving students the chance to undergo their own independent research. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning, setting themselves individual targets and evaluating their own progress throughout.
The curriculum has been created with every student in mind and music making at Mesaieed has proven to be a fun and rewarding experience for all.
