Key Stage 4 Physical Education

A high- quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. We provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness.

Aims of PE

We ensure that all pupils:

·         Develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities

·         Are physically active for sustained periods of time

·         Engage in competitive sports and activities

·         Lead healthy, active lives

KeyStage 4 Physical Education

KS4 core PE study the same variety of sports covered at KS3 at a more advanced level. Pupils are encouraged to become leaders and work on their organisation skills within lessons. Pupils should get involved in the range of activities, using and developing a variety of tactics and strategies to overcome opponents in team and individual games/ activities.

Pupils are encouraged to take part regularly in sporting activities, in and outside school.

Extended enrichment programme

Pupils are encouraged to take part in the Physical Education enrichment programme which is available for both KS3 and KS4 pupils. There is an extensive range of sports within the programme to enable pupils to build up their skills in their favourite sports or to try something new. We are lucky to offer a wide range of activities to provide opportunities for all. Sports covered in the curriculum are complemented with extra activities such as Cricket, Table Tennis and Girls Football.

Representing the School

Pupils who commit to after schools clubs have the opportunity to represent the school at fixtures in a variety of events against other schools.  This is available for all pupils across all key stages within the school.

Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to promote values such as fairness and respect.
