Key Stage 3 Drama

Students at KS3 are taught a wide range of skills and techniques exploring the Drama medium and a variety of topics and themes. We endeavour to enrich the lives of our students and instill in them a life-long respect and appreciation for the arts. As well as theoretical study, pupils learn and use a wide skill set unique to the Performing Arts.

Year 7: This year covers the basic skills of drama and performance, as well as thematic study.

Year 8: Pupils continue to build their knowledge and understanding of Drama by the introduction of new themes and longer texts.

Year 9: As each Key Stage progresses, pupils are given more opportunities to devise and design longer and more detailed performances, showing their skill and understanding. At the end of Year 9, pupils are charged with creating an original, extended piece of drama, which encapsulates all the skills and techniques of the last three years of study.

Through the three year KS3 course all learners are encouraged to be:

·         confident in working with information and ideas – their own and those of others

·         responsible for themselves, responsive to and respectful of others

·         reflective as learners, developing their ability to learn

·         innovative and equipped for new and future challenges

·         engaged intellectually and socially, ready to make a difference.
