Key Stage 2 Art & DT

Art is taught throughout Key Stage 2 and works closely in tandem with Design Technology opportunities. Each term we work to a particular theme, looking at a variety of artists and styles for inspiration and to build our skills of control and execution whilst developing observational skills.

The children work with a whole range of materials including watercolour, pastels, wire, plaster, textiles and clay.

We visit the Museum of Islamic Art and take sketching trips in Doha and Mesaieed in conjunction with our studies. Key Stage art exhibitions encourage and celebrate the children’s achievements. Individual classes take responsibility for producing display boards in the halls and corridors around the school where the work of the children is valued and displayed over the course of the year.

Design and Technology

The Design and Technology curriculum is geared towards enabling students to be able to talk about their ideas, select appropriate tools and materials, assemble and join components appropriately and safely and evaluate their finished items.

The children experiment with a variety of materials such as clay, textiles, wood, food and construction kits.
